We cannot recommend CFL Roofing based on our experience. Our experience with CFL Roofing began in November 2023 after our home suffered significant hurricane damage. We contacted them for a roof estimate, and during the initial visit we were asked to sign a Direct to Pay agreement. Since this was our first major insurance claim, we signed it after being told that all tarping during the insurance process would be provided at no cost. They also recommended that we hire a specific public adjuster to assist with our claim. Looking back, that was a mistake. We later learned that the adjuster was not someone we would have chosen had we done more research. As our claim progressed, CFL repeatedly tarped our roof, but the quality of the work was poor. In some cases, the tarps were coming loose the very next day, requiring us to call them back over and over again. This cycle continued for nearly a year. After Hurricane Milton, they returned one final time to tarp the roof. While our insurance claim was tied up in litigation, CFL never reached out to check on us or see if we needed additional assistance. Then, in mid-2025, our attorney informed us that CFL had submitted invoices for the tarping work totaling more than $35,000, including one invoice exceeding $10,000. This came as a complete surprise because we had originally been told the tarping would be covered during the claims process. When we contacted CFL, we were told that if we wanted to use another roofing company, we would first have to pay those invoices. After seeking legal advice, we learned that while we could potentially get out of the Direct to Pay agreement, it could take many months or even over a year. Meanwhile, our home’s interior continued to suffer water damage from the ongoing leaks. Faced with that reality, we felt we had no practical choice but to move forward with CFL. Once our claim was finally resolved, we waited several weeks for roof tiles to arrive. After they finally came in, our installation was delayed several times with various explanations. Eventually, work began. Unfortunately, the installation process brought new frustrations. We were assured that once the project was complete, we wouldn’t even know the crew had been there. That was far from our experience. We had to repeatedly contact CFL about cleanup issues throughout the project. After completion, we requested that management inspect the property for roofing nails and debris. A manager briefly ran a magnetic roller through the yard for only a few minutes before leaving. Even now, we are still finding roofing nails, roofing screws, banding wire, bottle caps, water bottle lids, and other construction debris throughout our yard. We were also charged additional money for fascia repairs without being contacted beforehand to approve the added work. While CFL offered a small credit because of the cleanup issues, it did not come close to addressing the overall problems we experienced. Our roofing project exceeded $77,000, and we expected professionalism, communication, quality workmanship, and respect for our property. Instead, we experienced poor communication, unexpected billing issues, repeated delays, inadequate cleanup, and a process that became one of the most stressful home improvement experiences we’ve ever had. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend CFL Roofing. We encourage anyone considering this company to carefully review every document before signing, ask detailed questions about billing, and make sure they fully understand all contractual obligations before moving forward.
